1 in 5 girls and 1 in 25 guys report experiencing physical or sexual abuse in their relationships while in high school.

Survivors of violence will always be survivors. Many live with physical and emotional effects or memories of violence for the rest of their lives.

Abusers will always be abusers. Even if they never hurt another person in their future relationships, they will always have hurt at least one person.

When we live in communities that condone dating abuse, we risk losing safety for ourselves, our friends, our family and community members. We lose the ability to support and trust in each other. We may hurt the people we date. We may lose the people we love.

But if individuals stand up for others and speak up against abuse, we can begin to create violence-free communities. We can prevent the people we care about from becoming survivors or abusers of dating violence.
